Preschool Prep: Organizing Space

Please bear with me, as I'm working on this blog from the library computer! We are having computer issues, and that doesn't jive with blogging very well!
If this is your first time seeing my Preschool Prep series, you can check out my other posts about Making a Plan and Making a Supply List.
So here's what we have so far for organization.

I made this organizer with an old cupboard door, hose clamps, and wide-mouth mason jars. I wanted to keep the supplies like scissors, markers, and glue close by our work area, and yet I didn't want the kids to be able to access the supplies without supervision. So I was able to hang this on the wall and put it up high enough that they can't get into it.

We will be using a drawer system that my friend Beth recommended for our every day "work." The way this works is that I will put different jobs for Miss Magoo to do in the drawers (we will probably start out with just a couple drawers at first), and then she can complete that work in whatever order she wants.

I have set aside a drawer in our file cabinet for preschool work. I will be putting each letter in its own folder, and apparently I need to get more file folders, so I'll be adding that to our supply list!
I put a divider in the drawer, so that I'll have space to put construction paper and other supplies as well.
It's not much, but I feel like I'm getting there. Are there any things that you experienced homeschooling moms have done that I should try?
Check out our link parties here.

  1. The drawer will FILL UP quickly. Hence why I went to the binder storage. Good luck with it. I guess if you don't print/use all of COAH curriculum it won't be bad.

What are you doing for "theme" units (as far as storage goes?
